After spending some time in İstanbul and Morocco we are finally back at home and settled comfortably for a Mediterranean winter. After an hectic month on the road, the quietness of nature feels so good here, and as there is no major storm yet, garden is full of roses..

İstanbul ve Fas'da geçen zamanlardan sonra nihayet Datça'ya eve dönüp yerleştik ve harika bir Akdeniz kışına hazırız. Büyük şehirde ve yolda geçen bir aydan sonra buraların sessizliği insana o kadar iyi geliyor ki...Daha çok şiddetli bir fırtına görmediğimiz içinde bütün bahçe güllerle dolu..

Our Hera is enjoying her much missed freedom, and immediately adopt to her B&B style living which is leaving home early in the morning and coming back during occasinal rain showers for a dry place..

Hera çok özlediği özgürlüğünün tadını sonuna kadar çıkartıyor. Sabah çıktığı eve ancak ara sıra yağan sağanak yağmurlar döndürebiliyor onu...

and our little one Hestia who stayed here when we left really missed being with us. Nowadays she is rarely leaving the house. It looks like she took nice care of herself when we are away because I found her as a much bigger cat after a month of absence...

ve giderken burada bıraktığımız en küçüğümüz Hestia ise bizlerle olmayı gerçekten çok özlemiş. Bu sıralar evden nadiren dışarı çıkıyor. Bu arada gördüğüm kadarıyla bir aylık yokluğumuz sırasında kendine gayet iyi bakmış. Eve dönünce çok daha büyümüş / şişmanlamış bir kedi bulduk..

Morrocan Blues

There is no better way to get that feeling of ''back to reality''than finding yourself sitting in the dentist's chair in the morning just the day after of your return.
So here I am sitting with four temporary teeth while waiting my brand new ones but in the meantime my gums hurt and a bill almost as large as our Morrocan trip expenses waiting to be paid..
But dont worry this post will cover all the colors of Morocco not only blue.....

Gerçek hayata dönüş için seyahatten döndüğünüzün hemen ertesi günü kendinizi dişçi koltuğunda bulmaktan daha iyi bir yol yok sanırım.
İşte burada, yepyeni  dişlerimin gelmesini bekliyorum ama hem diş etlerim çok ağrıyor hemde dişçiye ödenmesi gereken neredeyse bir Fas gezisi daha yaptıracak büyüklükte bir fatura beni bekliyor..
Ama merak etmeyin bu post'da karamsar renkler yerine Fas'ın capcanlı renkleri olacak...

On the way to Morocco....

We are flying to Morocco tomorrow morning. Still busy with packing. I am also preparing Hera's bag for her stay at the doggie hotel while we are away...I visited Morrocco 13 years ago but the colors, sounds, images, tastes are still with me vividly..Naturally I will write about it a lot when I am back but in the meantime you can follow our trip from the facebook page of Turquoise Diaries

Yarın sabah Fas'a uçuyoruz. Bugün hala valiz yapıyorum. Ayrıca biz yokken kalacağı pansiyon tatili için Hera'nın çantaları da hazırlanıyor..Fas'ı 13 yıl önce bir kez daha ziyaret etmiştim ama ülkenin renkleri, görüntüleri,tatları ve kokuları hala zihnimde capcanlı..Doğal olarak dönüşte Fas'ı uzun uzun yazacağım ama seyahat sırasında bizi isterseniz Turquoise Diaries'in face book sayfasından

Simit -Turkish bagel

Simit - Turkish bagel and a glass of tea is probably the cheapest fast food you can get in Turkey. It is possible to find simit ( circular crisp bread with sesame seeds) almost everywhere. I always prefer to eat simit and drink tea in the mornings while enjoying the view of the Bosphorus..

İstanbul that I miss

Hello from İstanbul.... Here are couple images from the istanbul that I miss...We have one more week here than we are flying to Morocco, where I am sure I will be posting many colorful photos..

İstanbul'dan merhaba...İşte özlediğim İstanbul'dan bir kaç fotoğraf..Bir hafta daha buralardayız daha sonra size pek çok renkli fotoğraf  yayınlayacağıma emin olduğum Fas'a doğru uçacağız...

Time to go...

It's time to go İstanbul again. Tomorrow we are going to exchange our shorts, shirts and flip flops with pants, sweaters, shoes and raincoats for 3 weeks...As we are still having beautiful summer like weathers here, it will be hard to leave.

Yeniden İstanbul'a gitme zamanı geldi..Yarın şortlarımızı, t-shirtlerimizi, parmak arası terliklerimiz, pantolonlarla, kazaklarla, ayakkabı ve yağmurluklarla değiştireceğiz. Datça'da hala inanılmaz güzel havalar sürdüğü için bu kez 3 haftalığına bile olsa gitmek çok zor geliyor..

Hera is coming with us. She doesnt like to travel and after so much freedom here, she is becoming a bit depressed in İstanbul but she is ready to go...

Hera bizimle geliyor. Arabaya binmekten hoşlanmasa da, bunca özgürlükten sonra İstanbul'da ilk günlerini depresif vaziyette geçirse de gitmeye hazır...

However we are leaving our little one, Hestia, behind.. She is still on the wild side, still prefering to sleep outside. So for the time being, apartment life in İstanbul is not possible for her. One of our neighbours will take care of her...So its time to give lots of cuddles to her. We are going to miss her a lot....

Ancak en küçüğümüz Hestia, ne yazık ki burada kalıyor. Hala daha oldukça vahşi bir kedi olduğu için geceleri dışarda uyumayı tercih ediyor, durum böyle olunca da İstanbul'da apartman hayatı şu an için hiç ona göre değil. Biz yokken bir komşumuz mamasını ve suyunu vermeye devam edecek..Çok özlenecek olduğu için şimdi kucaklardan inmiyor..

Sagalassos Antique City

Here is another antique city from our recent tour, but this one should be in the MUST SEE list, if you are interested in Roman and Greek archeological sites. It is located in the city of Burdur at the Toros mountain range at an altitute of 1450 -1700 m.

City is extensivly excavated Catholic University of Leuven of Belgium..At the entrance you are seeing an U shaped fountain dated from 1st century BC. Above the fountain Flavius Severianus Library from 3rd century restored beautifully..

Bir kaç hafta önce taptığımız antik şehirler turundan bir durak daha. Burası arkeoloji tutkunlarının mutlaka görülesi gereken yerler listesinde yer almalı. Şehir Burdur ilinde, Toros dağlarının eteklerinde 1450 - 1700 m yükseklikte kurulmuş.

Sagalassos, Belçika Leuven Katolik Üniversitesi arkeologları tarafından kazılıyor.Girişte ilk göreceğiniz yer MÖ 1 yüzyıldan kalma U şeklinde bir çeşme, üstünde ise son derece iyi restore edilmiş ve koruma amaçlı üstü kapatılmış, 3. yüzyıldan kalma Flavius Severianus Kütüphanesi. 

As always there is a beautiful and big theatre...

Her antik şehirde olduğu gibi güzel ve büyük bir tiyatrosu bulunuyor..

But the jewel of the city is the Fountain of Antonins built during 161 - 183. It is just amazing and what makes it special is that you can still cool yourself with its cold waters coming from the Toros mountains. It is enough to go there just to see an active Roman fountain...

Şehrin mücevheri ise kesinlikle 161 -183 yılları arasında yapılmış Antoninler çeşmesi. Muhteşem bir yapı ve onu son derece özel kılan şey ise, Toros dağlarından gelen buz gibi suyun hala akması. Sadece bu  bile çalışır durumdaki çeşmeyi görmek için  Sagalassos'a gitmeye değer..

 If you have time you should visit the Burdur museum to see the original statues of the fountain as well as other artifacts from the other ancient cities around Burdur region..It is a small and a very well designed museum..

Eğer zamanınız varsa, çeşmede bulunan orjinal heykelleri görmek için Burdur müzesini ziyaret etmeyi ihmal etmeyin. Burdur civarı antik kentlerden çıkan eserleri sergileyen müze küçük, iyi dizayn edilmiş ve gezilmesi çok rahat bir yer.
