Garden work...

There is non stop wind for the last 2 days in Datca, and it looks like it will continue for the weekend. It's not really fun to be outside. As heavy winds bring lots of salty water from the sea, it is killing almost everything in the gardens, so couple days ago we worked whole day in the garden and in the verandahs to save maximun amount of our plants. We succeeded in moving most of our pots inside and also changed some summer flowers with tulip bulbs. As always Hera was the keen inspector...

Datça'da son 2 gündür sürekli rüzgar var ve hafta sonunda da uçacak gibi görünüyoruz, ve tahmin edebileceğiniz gibi şu sıralar dışarda olmak çok eğlenceli değil. Kuvvetli rüzgarlar denizden çok fazla tuzlu su getirdiği için kışın bu rüzgarlar sırasında bahçede ne var ne yok ölüyor, dolayısıyla bir kaç gün önce bahçelerde ve balkonlarda bulunan çiçeklerimizi kurtarabilmek için bütün gün çalıştık. Şu anda saksılarımızın çoğu içeri taşındı ve kimi yaz çiçeklerinin yerine lale soğanları ektik. Hera ise her zamanki gibi gerekli kontrolleri hiç aksatmadı.

August Laziness...

I cant believe that I only wrote 1 post this month..Last 3 weeks were very hot and after our morning walks and swim, we mostly chosed to stay inside and spent rather lazy afternoons until the sun let us to go outside and play again...

So in those lazy afternoons we read many many books, watched many many films, enjoyed delicious naps and when I got bored I made some polka dot vases with some left over paint and stickers..

But most of all we made plans for the coming autumn and winter months..Especially the travel part was so much fun..So far we decided to go with the two of them. Towards the end of September it will be the ancient Greek city of Sagallassos located in the southwestern Turkey..Amazing discoveries and restoration projects are going on there and we have to see it with our own eyes...

Last but not the least we are travelling to Morocco at the beginning of November..It's been more than 10 years passed since my last visit and I cant wait to stroll in the souks and narrow streets of that colorful country...

Curtains

If you have a beach house in Turkey, you have to have curtains with hand made doilies....As my mom is getting ready to move to her new beach house, her friends and her daughter are quite busy with their hands. These will be our gifts to her..I still have to do another meter but I have to say its a very relaxing thing to do them....

Mirror..

One of my favorite pieces in the beach house is this mirror, that I made right after my visit to Guatemala. One day I saw mirrors like this there but thank God I was on a sane day, so I did not attemp to carry it all the way from Guatemala to Turkey. Instead I bought these tiny hand made dolls from a local woman and I think the price was USD 1 for 5 of them. Then I ordered round mirror and glued the these Guatemalan ladies. And since then we keep looking at each other every morning...
