If I were a rich (wo) man....

My journey in Central Asia continues...

Well, what if you want to show your wealth in a place where diamonds, designer bags, flashy cars are belong to the other part of the world.
Be brave, pack all your money and go to a dentist. Covering your front teeth with gold is an important sign of wealth in this part of the world.

  1. That's kind of cool. I would never do something like that though.

  2. So we all look poor when we go there? That is a lot of gold. Really brings out the "brightness" in a smile. I would not like it though.

  4. Oh now I remember when I see them in your pictures - you're right! I've seen golden teeth in Turkey...
And it's a good idea. Here as well as in Egypt dentist is not that visited place for all people...

  7. Wow! Well it's a lot less cumbersome than carrying around 50 handbags and pairs of shoes I guess ;-)

  12. I adore all the interesting things about other cultures that you share with us. My father had a gold tooth, but it was on the side of his mouth. You could see it when he smiled big. I never thought to ask him about it, but I know gold fillings were once popular in America.

The gourds in the first photo are beautiful!

  13. Well it would certainly solve my problems of having coffee-stained teeth.

I love seeing what you see on a far different part of the world than my own. Thank you for continuing to provide great photos and history...
