Boats of İstanbul

For this season I choose a photo of a Bhosporus boat as the header of my blog...Why??? Because I love them and I also think that they are one of the greatest symbols of İstanbul.

If you are lucky and could grap a seat by the window or outside if the weather is good, it's the best place to dream and relax while the silhouettes of a beautiful city flows in front of you. Every day they carry millions of people from port to port as well as from Asia to Europe or vice versa. Its definitely the most convenient way from one continent to another.

When I was a young banker the early morning boat from Uskudar to Eminonu was my mode of transportation to work. A glass of hot tea and a bagel was my breakfast while the boat was slowly moving in the dark blue waters of Bhosporus. It was the most refreshing way to start a new day and it still is...Dont forget to jump one of them if you ever come to this part of the world.

  1. It is lovely. I can relate well to your post. When I lived in Staten Island, I had to take the ferry boat to New York, and odd how tea and a bagel was often my breakfast. The nicest thing about living there was sitting at the beach front over looking the opening to the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean and watching the ships come in.

Some day I would love to come to your part of the world, to experience the beauty of your country.

  6. HI
I SO Loved our ferry rides across the Bhosporus sea to Yalova from Istanbul, Yalova was the last stop. We would order chi and goat cheese sandwiches. I wasn't crazy about the bathrooms. We called them 'Turkish bomb sites" :-)-- Since there was a place for each of your feet on each side of a hole in the floor that went right in to the sea!!!! I always got the bottoms of my pant legs wet. Americans, huh? :-)
Great pictures and I so love all my memories of the ferry rides about the beautiful dark waters of theBhosporus sea.

    Love to you

  7. A wonderful proof that it isn't enough to know how to build a ship, one has to have the passion and desire for life as well.

It was on this river that I saw delphins for the first time in my life. Thank you for this ability. Wonderful to see these images again.

Please have a good Tuesday you all.

  8. As much as I like the blues of water and sky,the black and white photos are touching me more this time, they are great.
And what a special way to go to work that must have been.Getting the time to properly wake up,geting that fresh air and rocking into a new day, must be fun.
